Fast Stream 2027: Application Dates and Assessment Sequence
Applications opened on 8 October 2026 for Fast Stream 2027 entry. Check the deadline, current online tests and how to plan each assessment stage.
The application window for 2027 entry opened at midday on 8 October 2026 and closes at midday on 5 November 2026. Check the official campaign dates and apply through the campaign portal.
This is a programme with several assessment stages, rather than one vacancy with one interview. Use this sequence to plan your time. Your scheme requirements, applicant portal and invitation emails control the details of your own application.
Start with scheme eligibility
The official Fast Stream site lists 18 schemes and a £31,554 starting salary for the current campaign. Eligibility differs between schemes. Check the relevant degree, nationality and other requirements before deciding which routes to select.
Make a short record for each scheme: why its work interests you, which requirement you meet and what you still need to confirm. Do this before committing time to practice.
Complete the application and check the next invitation
Submit through the official portal and keep a record of what you selected. Check your applicant homepage and emails for the next stage. Request adjustments using the campaign’s process early enough for them to be considered.
Put each invitation deadline into your own calendar. The campaign closing date does not replace a separate assessment deadline.
Prepare for the current online tests
The current written online assessment guidance names two tests: Work-based scenarios and Case study assessment. Both are untimed. The published guidance says they must be completed within seven days of becoming available; check your invitation for your own deadline.
Avoid preparation plans based on an older campaign’s list of tests. In particular, independent verbal or numerical drills are not replicas of these Fast Stream assessments.
Use our Work-based scenarios and Case study preparation worksheet to practise reading a situation, weighing evidence and explaining the consequence of a decision.
Prepare for later stages when invited
Successful candidates may progress to an assessment centre and scheme-specific stages. Read the current official assessment centre guidance alongside your invitation. Do not assume an old exercise list, marking rule or date applies to your campaign.
Build a small bank of real examples from study, employment, volunteering or projects. Record what you did, why, what changed and what you learned. Practise discussing a limitation as clearly as a success.
A practical preparation plan
- Before applying: confirm scheme eligibility and read the current campaign instructions.
- Before online tests: check adjustments, access, environment and your personal deadline. Work through the official examples before independent exercises.
- After online tests: retain your application record and monitor the portal. Prepare real evidence rather than guessing a pass mark.
- When invited onwards: use the exact brief to choose practice. Check timings and permitted materials before rehearsing.
The current campaign guide puts the verified dates and source links in one place.
