Understand the framework
What Civil Service Behaviours mean.
Behaviours describe actions and approaches relevant to effective work. The official framework sets different expectations by grade, and the advert identifies the behaviours and assessment methods for your role. They can be assessed through written evidence, interview or other exercises. Your advert determines which apply.
For example, Delivering at Pace concerns maintaining effective, timely work. An example should explain the competing demands, your own decisions and how you protected quality. A list of tasks or a claim that you work hard does not explain those choices.
This page explains the framework. For a practical STAR structure and your own evidence, use the behaviour example builder. Use the strengths guide for a different assessment element.
Check the official grade descriptors before selecting an example. Do not assume a behaviour name alone tells you the expected scope.
